A rather magnificent listing here on the peninsula. The work of Robin Boyd underling Karl Fender, who now heads one of the most prominent architecture firms in the country banging out such trifles as The Eureka Tower and Mona, this is a step back to the architect’s earlier domestic days. Though pushing beyond what might be ‘technically’ Mid-Century this 1973 home nonetheless follows as an example of Australia’s second wave of notable architectural output with it’s roots firmed planted in Boyd, Grounds, Seidler and gang. But yep – just check it. Perhaps needing a little clear out and spit n’ polish, it is already is a sprawling compound of dreams waiting for some new energy to take it on and make it sparkle.
