An architect-designed, family home having been cherished and renovated with expert oversight now awaits its next chapter in the suburbs of Brisbane. A commission for Peter Lambert of firm Lambert Smith this residence was built for the Kerrisk family in 1971. Nearly 2 decades ago it came into the hands of the present owners who then six years ago with the help of Gall Architects sought to retain and enhance the beautiful timber and features of the home whilst updating the living, with consideration for the unique requirements of sub-tropical climate.

“……. keen to retain original materials like the blackbean veneer wall finish and wire mesh glass and alluded to the original milk glass sliding cabinet doors in the new white glass splashback. The new connection between inside and outside hugely increased our use and enjoyment of the patio/terrace area…………The new joinery in kitchen and living room incorporated Queensland Maple, the timber that in the original custom joinery in the study – desk, cabinets and integrated sofa.”

A measured, considerate and totally suited renovation is the end result here, it is sure to attract plenty of new admirers and hopefully snag a new set of owners with similar appreciation and integrity for this Modern design.
